Product Description

Fundamental to a successful checkride, the FAA PTS guide details the skills and knowledge that must be demonstrated

ASA reprints the most current FAA Practical Test Standards in this series of handy cockpit-sized guides. This is ASA’s Sport Pilot Practical Test Standards for Airplane, Weight-Shift Control, Powered Parachute and Flight Instructor. The FAA Practical Test Standards are used by instructors, students, and examiners to prepare for, review, take, or issue the checkride. Each PTS is written by the FAA and details the type and levels of skill and knowledge that must be demonstrated before an examiner can issue a certificate or rating to an applicant, and describes background study and reference materials.

This PTS includes both the FAA-S-8081-29 for Airplane and FAA-S-8081-31 for Weight-Shift Control and Powered Parachute (effective December 2004), applicable to both Sport Pilots and Sport Instructors. Includes Change 1 (effective June 2006) and Change 2 (effective February 2008), and is 296 pages.

Filmmaker, Flight Instructor, Author

For all student pilots getting ready for the Sport Pilot airplane, trike, and powered parachute checkride (practical test) and Designated Pilot Examiners giving the checkrides.

These are the FAA practical test standards that must be demonstrated during a checkride by Sport Pilots flying airplanes, trikes, and powered parachutes. This guide contains the FAA requirements while the answers are provided in the Sport Pilot Checkride book and/or Private Oral Exam Guide.

These standards are typically presented and reviewed during the ground school and flight training after the student has soloed in preparation for the checkride.

This guide is used primarily for the Sport Pilot checkride and proficiency checks during pre flight planning and post flight review.

This guide is very helpful when reviewing a student or CFI applicant's progress and proficiency in meeting the standards required by the FAA.

This book should be in every Sport Pilots flight bag. Includes all the test standards and requirements required to pass the sport pilot practical tests. If you’re taking flight lessons to become a sport pilot, you should buy this book. The material presented is exactly what your flight instructor will be testing you on during your training. Thanks for the fast and well packaged care you took of my purchase. It is great doing business with you... thanks so much

  3. Not what I expected 3 Star Review

This book I ordered is not what I was really looking for. It is more for instructors certifying pilots. Not exactly what I wanted.

  4. Great Insight for Persons Who Fear Tests 4 Star Review

Posted by on 20th Sep 2013

I have not finished the book, but find that it allows you to get a handle on what is required to complete the test requirements and not fear the unknown. The unknown sometimes cause the student to perform poorly when taking a test. This book can help with the fear and allow the taker of the test to focus on what he or she has troubles with and help them to overcome this problem with clear understanding of what they need to know.
